Factors Affecting Internet Speeds at Your Address
Your internet speed can be influenced by conditions specific to the access line at your location. Below are some factors categorised by connection technology:
FTTN or FTTB Technology
- The length of the copper line between your premises and the node
- The quality of the copper line used for the connection
- The “co-existence period,” where old and new technologies operate simultaneously
- Weather conditions impacting the connection
- The quality and layout of in-premises wiring
- Internal or external sources of electrical interference
HFC Technology
- The quality of the coaxial cable used for the connection
- The quality and arrangement of in-premises cabling
- Internal or external sources of electrical interference
Fixed Wireless Technology
- The strength of the signal or any obstruction to the antenna’s line of sight to the tower
- Weather conditions, such as extreme heat or heavy rainfall
Understanding these factors can help you identify potential issues and optimise your connection with Go Troppo.
