Connecting Your Premises to the Go Troppo nbn™ Network

The connection technology that links your premises to the Go Troppo nbn™ network depends on your address. Each type of connection has its own theoretical maximum speed, and within these technologies, multiple speed tiers may be available. Below is an overview of the various nbn™ connection types.

Types of Connection Technologies

  • Fibre to the Premises (FTTP)
Optical Fibre runs directly from the internet and Go Troppo’s network to your premises, delivering high-speed connectivity.
  • Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC)
Optical Fibre connects the internet and Go Troppo’s network to a nearby node in your street. From the node, an existing coaxial or ‘pay TV’ cable carries the connection to your premises.
  • Fibre to the Node (FTTN)
Optical Fibre extends from the internet and Go Troppo’s network to a node located in or near your street. Copper wiring, often the existing phone line, then connects the node to your premises.
  • Fibre to the Curb (FTTC)
Optical Fibre links the internet and Go Troppo’s network to a pit located close to your premises, typically on the footpath. Copper wiring, usually your existing phone line, connects the pit to your premises.
  • Fibre to the Building (FTTB)
Commonly used for apartments or similar buildings, Optical Fibre runs from the internet and Go Troppo’s network to a communication room within the building. From there, a copper cable connects the node to individual premises.
  • Fixed Wireless
Suitable for areas where premises are far apart, this connection uses a fixed antenna installed on your roof to receive signals from a wireless tower.
  • Satellite
A satellite dish installed at your premises communicates directly with a satellite, enabling internet access in remote locations.
